What is Patient Benefit?
“Patient Benefit” represents improvement in health-related outcomes that are:
- Prioritized by Patients and their Care Partners: Outcomes that are most important to individuals and families.
- Specific and Objectively Measurable: Outcomes that can be clearly defined and tracked.
- Expected to Improve a Patient’s Wellbeing and/or Ability to Engage with their Communities: Outcomes that enhance a patient’s quality of life, functionality, and ability to participate in daily life.
This definition encompasses positive impacts on:
- Quality of Life: Overall satisfaction and enjoyment of life.
- Functional Ability: Ability to perform daily tasks and activities.
- Wellbeing: A sense of physical, mental, and social well-being.
Patient Benefit includes outcomes measured through traditional biometrics (“clinical outcomes”) and patient-reported outcomes (PROMs).
